Ophthalmic Photographer

Apply for the Position

  • Retina Consultants of America is seeking a responsible, self-motivated individual for a fulltime retinal angiographer position.

    The Diagnostic Technician is responsible for technical testing, clinical support and patient care for various physicians.

    • Perform diagnostic testing for physicians including OCTs, fundus photos, fluorescein angiography, ICG angiography, A/B/UBM scans (ultrasound), and visual fields
    • Works collaboratively with clinical staff to reduce physician and patient wait times
    • Record images and notes in electronic medical record system
    • Perform venipunctures as needed for angiograms and Photodynamic Therapy
    • Respond to physician and peer questions about images, offering technical insight
    • Performs diagnostic testing or services in support of the physicians and faculty

    Ability to perform:

    • OCT (Anterior & Posterior Segment)
    • Fundus Photography
    • Ultra Wide Field Fundus Imaging
    • Auto-Fluorescence Imaging
    • Fluorescein Angiography (including venipuncture)
    • Indocyane Green Angiography (including venipuncture)
    • Ocular Biometry and Ultrasonography (Ascan- biometry, Diagnostic-A, Bscan
    • and UBM)
    • Visual Fields: Humphrey VF

    As part of the diagnostic testing service, the individual will also assist with coverage for other areas in the clinic, including:

    • Triage/ Work up technician
    • Expeditor- rooming and preparing patients for the physician
    • Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) prep (including venipuncture)
    • Assist with in-office procedures, obtaining consent, set up and numbing
    • Demonstrated effectiveness showing courtesy, diligence, integrity, and teamwork
    • Strong interpersonal skills (effective listening, clear communication, effective customer problem resolution, warm demeanor)
    • Ability to work long and irregular hours, including occasional overtime
    • Ability to master multiple computer systems (data entry and data retrieval)
    • Ability to master ophthalmology and retina terminology
    • Ability to travel to locations across Central Texas by car
    • Ability and willingness to perform venipunctures safely
    • Valid Texas driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record
    • Willingness to drive company vehicle on day trips
    • Strong attention to detail and follow through.
    • Demonstrates commitment toward continuous learning and applied knowledge of medical terminology with emphasis on ophthalmic anatomy and physiology.
    • Ophthalmic equipment maintenance and simple repairs.
    • Demonstrates exemplary standards of customer service with strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Must be a strong team player.
    • Flexibility to work extended hours based on the needs of the department.
    • 4 year college education, including related optometry, ophthalmology and/or technical training with certification by the Ophthalmic Photographers Society, Joint Commission of Allied Health in Personnel Ophthalmology, or other nationally recognized professional certifying body; or a 2 year college education in an appropriate science and 2 years of closely related laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Certified Retinal Angiographer (CRA), Optical Coherence Tomography – Certified (OCT-C), Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) (or ability to obtain within 2 years of hire)
    • Retina or ophthalmology experience is preferred with special consideration for an individual with experience performing OCTs, fundus photography, A/B scans (ultrasonography), and/ or phlebotomy
    • Previous experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person.
    • Schedule varies, rarely weekend days may be required. Flexible Schedule is required and may include starting at 5:00 am and staying late.
    • Travel within 120 miles is required (company-provided transportation, day trips only)
    • Hourly pay (FLSA non-exempt, eligible for overtime)
    • Physical requirements: Frequent standing and sitting, ability to view patient images and operate imaging devices, frequent use of a computer terminal, near constant standing and walking, manual dexterity to operate ophthalmic equipment, lifting heavy equipment

Ophthalmic Technician

  • Retina Consultants of America is seeking a responsible, self-motivated individual toperform administrative support duties in our clinical operation and work as an ophthalmic technician as needed. The person in this role will split their time between working in clinic and performing site lead duties.

    • Work in the clinic as a technician as needed.
    • Serve as a backup on the receiving and inventorying of medications for all locations.
    • Perform tasks required to maintain OSHA compliance within the clinic (e.g., overseeing dating of supplies, performing autoclave sterilization tests, disposing of expired products, etc).
    • Order medications as needed (Eylea, Lucentis, Avastin, Beovu, Ozurdex, Kenalog etc.)
    • Order clinical supplies as needed.
    • Order photography supplies as needed.
    • Coordinate with pharmaceutical representatives for sample medication orders
    • Coordinate Med Sheet retrieval with Central Site Lead
    • Maintain detailed inventory log of South PAP vials.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    • Administrative/office experience
    • Competence as an ophthalmic technician in a retina environment
    • Proficient in Screening and OCT

Ophthalmic Scribe Job

  • Retina Consultants of America is seeking a responsible, self-motivated individual to help us
    provide unparalleled patient satisfaction by maintaining patients’ medical records with
    accuracy under the direct supervision of the physician.

    • Maintain patients’ medical records with accuracy under the direct supervision of the physician. Note and code diagnoses, lab results, and treatments in the EMR system.
    • Assist physician throughout his or her clinic and serve as a personal assistant to help the physician be more efficient and productive. Respond to messages from internal staff.
    • Review charts and alert physician when not complete or consistent.
    • Collect and properly complete all measures for MIPS and proper submission of ERX.
    • Assist in maintaining patient follow-up, education, and quality of care.
    • Attend training on a range of subjects including coding, legal and regulatory compliance, billing/reimbursement, and ability to quickly assimilate to new processes and procedures.
    • Additional meetings and training are required. Compliance with OSHA and HIPAA are a must as well as the adherence to emergency and safety protocol.
    • Experience with medical scribing in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to travel to satellite clinics (day trips) on a regular basis.
    • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to type at least 55 WPM ● Excellent communication and grammar
